The gift of art is a significant symbol of affection, gratitude or love. Whether you desire a portrait for yourself or for a loved one, I am looking forward to creating a piece you will treasure. It is a joy to have my life’s passion also be my work and I consider it an honor to have my work in your collection. I think you will find the whole process remarkably convenient and rewarding.

I create these portraits using either Graphite, Charcoal, Pastel or sometimes a combination of all. Together you and I will decide what is best for the result you desire.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a commission cost?

Prices vary depending on size, number of subjects/people, medium used and more. Please click on the “Prices” tab to see more on this.

Why is it called a "Commission"?

IDK! Haha. Artists in general like fancy words. Technically the definition of “commission” is… order or authorize the production of something For the purposes of my website and business, there is no difference between the term “commission” and “custom portrait”.  Either term you choose, it means you want me to draw you something.

What is your return policy?

I don’t really have one. This is a difficult thing to achieve in this business. I am fair and understanding so I encourage all my clients to reach out to me immediately if they have a concern or a problem! I am sure we can work something out.

Why should I pay for a custom portrait when I already have the photo?

Fair question. My knee-jerk response to this question is “If you have to ask, then maybe a custom portrait isn’t the perfect gift for you”. And there is nothing wrong with that. But if you are still interested, here are a few reasons why people ask for a custom portrait… 1) Unexpected gift 2) Art = Emotions 3) No age limit 4) Everlasting 5) 100% Unique and Customizable.

May I purchase prints of my custom portrait?

Yes you can. That will be one of the details we discuss before I get started. It will be an extra cost and I will need to know before I  begin.

How long does a commission take?

Completion time varies but I can usually finish a custom portrait (aka a commission) within two to three weeks. Unless this Covid monster causes complications…

What do you draw the portraits with?

I use several different mediums. Either pastels, charcoal or graphite. In the past I have used colored pencils, markers and more. The medium is something you and I will discuss when planning your piece of art.

What is pastel?

Pastel is a chalk like material. Although it is not chalk. It comes in pencil form, or in a stick form or even in a powder form called “pan pastel”. Every commission will come with handling instructions. Please follow them carefully!! You can also read through those instructions by clicking on the “Handling” tab above.

Where does the art ship from?

New Zealand. If you aren’t familiar with this country, We are a gorgeous rock at the bottom of the world. And before you ask, NO we are not part of Australia but we close to it. Haha.

What if I don't like the portrait you draw?

Too bad! Oh goodness I am just kidding. Please, I beg of you, to be honest with me about your satisfaction. I refuse to send out art that the client is not happy with. The thought of that gives me anxiety. We will be in contact during the entire process. While I am drawing, if I have any questions, I will contact you immediately. I will not make any assumptions about what you want. Together we will make sure you get the EXACT result you are looking for.
